  • Wall Street Journal is reporting today that Google is preparing to release an Android-based gaming console in the near future and also a few more devices, including a sequel for the doomed Nexus Q.

The Nexus Q second gen has apparently been tested by the FCC already and rumors also say that a third project is also in development, involving an iPod-like smartwatch. As you probably know already, Google has built a special OS for Google Glass, one that could easily be installed onto a package wearable on the wrist.

The Android game console part is the interesting one, especially since this market is growing, with players like Ouya getting more and more traction and adoption by retail stores. It would make sense for the Nexus Q 2 and the game console to be one and the same, since I doubt that the console wouldn’t be able to play media.

Google X Labs will handle the products, so they will be very interesting. Rumors say we may see them once Key Lime Pie is ready for launch.
