  • Google Play Store gift cards were recently found by dissecting the latest Play Store release and compiling it into an APK. Now we have an actually release date for this type of service. Apparently, the gift cards will launch on August 26th, according to the picture below, that was uncovered by the guys of Android Police.

This one comes straight from Target’s internal documents and it informs workers about the Google Play gift cards availability. That should be on August 26th and until then, the Google Play Store gift card spots will be empty. So, expect them to pop up in the nearby Target store. This is the start of a whole new era for retailers. Now they can advertise an overpriced device with the selling point being gift cards for very cool and pricey games like Final Fantasy III, Dark Knight Rises or The Amazing Spider-Man, all coming with a new handset.

That’s a mere example, but you get the point here. We know right now that the Play Store is ready and one person also had such a purchase recently, so we just have to hold tight for one more week. What’s the first game you’re getting with a gift card?
