Google Implements New Policies for Android App Developers: Notification Tray Ads and Begging for Ratings are Banned
Android is an open platform, but it operates according to a set of rules, that Google has updated today. We’re talking about the policies that Android app developers must comply to.
Clarifications were also included and the biggest change is the ban of apps that mask ads as notifications. Apps that hide ads on the homescreen as a shortcut or in the notification area will be banned. Google clarified the gambling policies and claims that it won’t tolerate apps that request ratings in exchange for perks, like it happens with many games nowadays.
Apps can’t have ads that are impossible to dismiss without triggering the ad. Google also forces all games to use the Google Play in app billing system. All the rules will start applying today and if an app is found in violation, the developer has 30 days to fix the issue or have his software pulled from the Play Store.
