Google Earth Update Brings 100k New Tours and Over 1 Million Photos
Google Earth has just received a brand new update, that brings 100,000 new tours and 1 million photos. The tours will provide a view of popular places and you can also view more than 1 million user generated pics in Panoramio. The tour guide feature offers 3D models of famous places, plus Wikipedia information.
Virtual fly overs are available, competing with the similar feature in Apple Maps. Up until now you could have a look at famous monuments and cities all over the world, plus reservations, parks and other wonders of the world. Now there are 100k more to admire and view in detail, across 20 countries. The Google Earth tour guide was added to the desktop version of the app back in October with about 11k tours at that time and now it’s got 10 times more.
The update is coming to both iOS and Android, from what we know. Each tour ends with a collection of photo thumbnails that were selected from Panoramio as the best representation of a given place. If you click on one of them you will enable a full screen experience. The tour guide is available on desktop and mobile versions of the Google Earth 7.0 app. You can get it from here.
