  • As a response to Apple’s unveiling of the Maps application, with great 3D graphics, Google unveiled an updated version of Google Earth, 7.0. This one brings a tour guide function, that allows you to explore places you’ve never been too, including favorite cities and landmarks.

Natural wonders can also be visited using this application. 3D imagery is available, allowing you to “fly over” entire cities in 3D, including Los Angeles, Boston, Geneva or Rome. New towns will be added in the following weeks and the software is available on devices with dual core processors, since it requires quite a bit of processing power. Among the layers you can browse there’s roads, borders, places, photos and much more.

Planes in flight and hiking trails can be seen using the Google Earth new software. In order to navigate through the app you can do a one finger swipe to move the globe, a two finger pinch and rotate to zoom in and out and rotate the viewpoint, plus two fingers swiped together to tilt the view. The app requires Android 2.1 and up and can be downloaded from here.
