  • The Google Drive app for Android has just received an important update, that will bring some UI changes, a lighter theme and a brand new create bar, among others. Said bar will make the uploading, creating and scanning of files to Google Drive much easier.

Google gave up the dark theme of previous releases and proceeds with a brighter approach here, through a white theme dubbed Holo Light. It makes content “easier on the eyes” and it brings a new create bar embedded at the bottom of the app. This includes quick action buttons and we also get a bunch of new tools and features for Spreadsheets.

You can merge and split rows and columns at will now. You can also lock rows and column areas in order to separate them, plus you get the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements here. The Google Drive update will be rolled out in stages, but you can download the basic app from here, if you want.
