  • Google just performed a major update for their camera app, bringing a few welcome features, including the likes of 16:9 mode and a self timer. This is the stock version of the camera we’re talking about, with a new design for the UI.

The thing is that the update also gets rid of about half of the features in the camera app, so you’re left with the “less is more” concept. The update brings back the self timer with the option to choose from 3 to 10 seconds timer options. The white balance is missing and there’s no trace of ISO, shutter speed or metering options. At least Google offers the option to view 100% output from the image sensor, with a 16:9 option.

There are also new panorama modes, including a vertical one, squared and circular panorama. Fisheye is also included, as well as wide angle pictures and you can get the update from the Play Store right now. I can’t say if this update is worse or better, since it removes options, but it also brings some back…
