  • Although we usually don’t write about Android phones, this new Nexus handset will be a tool for developers, not only a high end smartphone, so it’s worth our time. It appears that CNET got confirmation from sources that the new Google Phone will be a modified version of the Optimus G. It also appears that other phone makers could launch their own Nexus phone soon.

I have to say that lately LG has been upping its game, with cool new devices like the LG Optimus 4X HD, that’s not bad at all and also the LG Optimus Vu 2 and now the Optimus G. They’re not the company that was considered to be some sort of second best to Samsung, since they can stand on their own now. The idea of the new product is that it will be modified to fit in the Nexus program. I expect something like the Nexus One and HTC Desire, twin brothers with slight tweaks to separate them.

A Nexus phone would increase LG’s reputation especially in the USA, where it doesn’t have much of a market share. The Nexus devices usually come with the latest Android, that this time could be version 4.2 of the OS. It draws a crowd of developers and fans to the device, who want to tweak it, play with it and port its software to other devices. Specs for this newcomer have already leaked and they include Qualcomm’s quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 2 GB of RAM, a 1280 x 768 True HD IPS display and an 8 megapixel camera, plus a non removable battery.

8/16GB of storage and a microSD card slot complete the picture. Excited about the LG Optimus G Nexus? We sure are!
