  • Starting today Google will be rolling out the update to version 4.5 for GMail. The new version was leaked since shortly after Google I/O, to bring new interface changes and related features. Don’t worry if you still haven’t gotten the notification about the new version. It will gradually become available for everyone.

The new version for GMail will start rolling out for the desktop interface, as well as the mobile platforms – Android and iOS. In terms of changes, version 4.5 for Android brings the long expected tabs based interaction, including a redesign for the Inbox menu. The changes seem to rely on the same style we’ve seen introduced with other Google apps, like Calendar that was updated before it.

The most welcome changes that GMail brings offer a much more appealing way to spot important messages and browse the different categories. It will be using the same color codes implementations we’ve seen with Calendar and the swipe right to reveal the options menu interface. It also includes the same tabs that are characteristic to the desktop version. Keep an eye out for the new version on the Play Store.
