  • Gmail is starting an evolution early this year, with a version 4.7.2 being ready for prime time. The new release has enabled images automatically, with Google serving the images after hosting them on its proxy servers.

You no longer need to tap the “show pictures” message above the email content, as they’ll be shown immediately. The app is so fresh, that Google didn’t even reveal the changelog and didn’t publish details in the Play Store description. Considering Google’s typical rollout method, it should be days before you get this. You can download it from here in the meantime.

In case you’re missed the past few updates, know that Gmail 4.7 brought vacation responder and KitKat  printing, while Gmail 4.6 brought even more Card UI elements. The APK is signed by Google, so everything is legit. Here’s a second mirror link for you.
