  • The new version of Microsoft’s OS has been the center of attention since it was first announced. Even if our platform of choice is Android, we still would like to give the WP8 interface a test run and see how it feels. Fortunately for us, due to the Google OS’s versatility, it was only a matter of time until someone developed a launcher based on the mobile version of the Windows 8 OS.

The WP8 Launcher is now available on the Play Store. One major inconvenience is that the UI is entirely in Chinese and will take some time to get used to and customize it. XDA Developers member navdeepsangwan has taken some time to translate the interface through screenshots that we will post bellow. Other than that the launcher works very well and is surprisingly stable for a first release.

The WP8 launcher will give you the tile-based interface and, just like with the original, you are able to swipe right for your list of apps sorted alphabetically. You are able to change the color of the tiles for each app or the entire theme. You can also pin/unpin items to the start screen, rename apps and customize their links. The launcher also provides a lockscreen, exactly like the original in the Microsoft OS. You are able to add widgets and change the icons with custom ones from your SD card. Though the interface language may be a major setback it’s still something you may want to give a try just for fun.
