  • Introduced with Android Jelly Bean, Google’s Sound Search engine identifies music just like other popular services, I’m talking about Shazam or Sony’s TrackID. Courtesy of the guys at XDA Developers the app has been tested to work on ICS running Android smartphones.

    Google Sound Search

Google Sound Search is basically a widget used to identify songs and then link to the Play Music Store so you can purchase them. It works very good and gets the info quite fast. While there is no extra functionality, given the fact that it works quite good you might want it on your smartphone. The initial port of the app required to install it as a system app and set permissions. Currently, thanks to the XDA community, you can install it as a normal app and it works just fine.

    Google Sound Search ported

To install Google Sound Search, either download the APK from here and install as any app or follow the link to the source to get other versions that require root.
