  • Epic Games are the creators of one of the most appreciated franchises in the history of mobile gaming. Infinity Blade has been known to cause serious addiction and gave the start to a lot of clones releasing after it even though the title is an iOS exclusive.

Though we don’t know if Apple is involved or not Infinity Blade is and will remain an Apple exclusive title. The latest releases of the title have even been demoed with the launch of the new Apple devices including the iPad 4. Though Android users may not be given the chance to try it there are some good clones out there and we even covered some of them including some freemium titles from Glu.

One of the assets of Infinity Blade are the sets designed with the most detailed graphics that take advantage of the latest hardware components. Android users are given the chance to explore this fantasy world through Epic Citadel. The title is a recreation of the dynamic fantasy setting in Infinity Blade aimed at demonstrating the power and features of the Unreal Engine 3 for mobiles. The title includes a Benchmarking mode to inform of the hardware’s capabilities in FPS. There are realistic reflections and animations, including Unreal Engine 3’s built-in global illumination system and dynamic specular lighting with texture masks. It is a true demo of console quality gaming.

Epic has now shipped an Unreal Engine app for Android, which means we’ve invested in plenty of QA testing against a wide range of devices, and we’ve executed the necessary profiling required for shipping Android games, etc. This means that any developer licensing the Unreal Engine for Android benefits from that process – all the work we do gets rolled back into the engine and shared with our licensees.

Epic Citadel is now available on the Play Store.
