  • Flipboard for Android has been received warmly, especially since it has been awaited with great impatience by those jealous that it was available on iOS so long before Android. Now it gets a big update, that brings improved navigation and in app hints. Flipboard for Android first appeared on the Galaxy S III back in May and now it’s already one of the most popular apps on Android.

This new version is 1.9.6 and gives you dropdown menus when you tap on the name of the sections you’re viewing at the time. Improvements to the Google Reader feeds were done and in application hints will highlight useful features that you may not know. The update also brings new shopping cart features if you use Guilt Taste via Flipboard. The obvious performance improvements and bug fixes were included in the changelog as well.

For those who don’t know, Flipboard is a magazine style application that brings together your social networking feeds, favourite sites and all the media you follow in a single tile view with lots of swiping to move around the news. The app is free, takes up just 2.9MB and won the Webby Award in News and Social categories and the People’s Choice Award too. You can get the new version from here.
