  • Everyone’s talking about the rumored Facebook native Android app, that’s supposed to come soon, in order to fix the mess caused by the last updates to Android FB apps. The HTML5 app that currently runs on most Android phones is very criticized and it needs big improvements.

Rumors said at some point that Zuckerberg himself forced Facebook employees to use the FB Android app daily, as some sort of punishment for making it such a failure. In a discussion with journalists and bloggers last month, the Facebook CEO said that the switch from HTML5 to a native iOS app was a hit and users viewed twice as many stores in their news feed compared to the previous experience. He also described the HTML5 Android app as a mistake, one that Facebook will fix as soon as possible.

Right now 600 million of the 1 billion active Facebook users enter the service from a phone or other mobile device, so having a proper mobile app is huge these days. The other problem is that on mobile, FB is even less monetized than on desktop and there’s still no strategy for that here. So, expect a fresh app for Android in the following days!
