  • This week was dominated by Facebook’s announcement of the Graph Search, a clear jab at Google’s search area. However, now there’s another new thing related to Facebook to look into: an update of its Android application. This is not a major update, certainly not as big as the one from last month, but it’s still important.

The latest Facebook release allows users to open and view photos faster, share friends’ stories to timelines, pages and groups and send voice messages to other users. The version number of the app varies with the device, but for most people it should be Facebook for Android version 2.1. The message sending feature is not totally new, since Facebook Messenger on iOS and Android already has such as feature.

However, in the main Facebook app we didn’t have that till now. In case you’re wondering what’s with the updates happening so often, Facebook promised some time ago to update its mobile apps every 4 to 8 weeks and they intend to make good on the promise. The apps include Facebook for Android, FB for iOS, Facebook Messenger and Facebook Camera. The update is available here.
