  • Just hours ago Facebook for Android received an update to version 1.9.7 and to use you’ll need Android 2.2 and up. You probably use Facebook already on your phone and are happy with the latest updates, although I’ve also heard people complaining that lately FB for Android eats up too many resources.

Anyway, what the new FB release for Android brings is an easier way to take photos using the front facing camera on the phone, plus new messaging features. The latter allow you to switch between conversations, include friends of friends, share bigger photos and see what contacts are available. Bug fixes are obviously included, as well as security enhancements and faster application login and navigation, something that I always felt that need correction.

With Google+ already receiving that major update at I/O and Twitter getting updated days ago, it was bound to see Facebook making a move in this area. Expect similar improvements to the iOS version of the app and hopefully to the Windows Phone one as well. Meanwhile you can download Facebook for Android version 1.9.7 from here.
