Experience One of the Best Mods for Android Without Having to Install a Custom Kernel
You don’t need to install a custom ROM to enjoy some of the extra features developers have worked for Android devices. You can also install a custom kernel to go with the stock ROM and enjoy extra options, like overclocking or improved battery life. Most custom ROMs include a custom kernel, either from the same developer or from another.
The Touchwake mod has been implemented in most custom kernels and was a huge success all around. RootzWiki recognized developer Ezekeel, responsible for one of the most popular custom kernels for Android – GlaDOS – has been working on a solution to make available this mod and others for all ROMs, stock or custom. His app named eXperience is a first attempt to bring the touchwake function to everyone. The idea behind this project is to create a new tool that will allow “various tweaks on-the-fly and independent of the running kernel.”
Touchwake will allow you to wake the device from suspend by touching the touchscreen or the touchkeys, which is much more convenient than having to press the power button. However, pressing the power button to lock the device or turning the screen off by way of the proximity sensor will the touchwake function is not activated. You can customize the delay time in seconds for disabling the touch controls after the screen turns off. Long pressing any feature row within the app will give you a quick guide for the function and the option to set on boot.
