  • E3 2013 is in full bloom these days and I suspect that the upcoming game NFS Rivals will arrive from consoles and the PC straight to our Android devices and iOS too. The nifty thing is that Electronic Arts revealed that the game will feature cross platform multiplayer.

However, the cross platform thing won’t actually happen in the traditional way. You won’t be racing against other people, but folks with an Android tablet or iPad can affect the race that’s going on. For example, they can call in support to help the cops chasing a player, but we also have traditional multiplayer and a new technology called AllDrive.

This allows players to connect in multiple ways, with the chase above being just an example of that. There’s a tentative release date for this game of November 19th for consoles and PCs, but don’t bet your house on that. Rivals is an open world racing video game and if it comes to Android and iOS I guess it will leave behind its open world nature…
