  • If you are currently enjoying any form of a way to be notified about events on your smartphone I’m telling you: there is always room for better. Especially when you can not only benefit from it but also support the Open Source community. That is the way I figure it since enjoying the app I’m about to present to you.

    AcDisplay

These days most hardware manufacturers implement a notification LED with their devices. It’s not the most stylish form to be notified but it gets the job done alright. On the down side you will find such an LED only on the top devices. Flagship smartphones or tablets provide one or even two multiple color lights in case of an event. Them comes recognized themer and developer AChep with one of the most attractive options in this regard. And best of all he makes it free to distribute or modify by anyone.

The app called AcDisplay was developed for the purpose of displaying notifications in a very attractive manner. Not only that but also in a way so that it is light on resources – especially on battery. The app comes as a very new addition to the Play Store so currently it doesn’t offer a large number of options. It can display notifications from Google apps and it is so made so the writing is small enough so that it looks very good while preserving battery life at the same time. AMOLED display users will especially benefit from it. But all others are also welcome and will enjoy using it.

The down side of it all is that it currently requires a device running Android 4.4+. And since there aren’t that many out there running the latest version of the OS it really might come as a shame. That is until someone or the same developer decides to lower the requirements for it and make a lot of users happy. Till then you are welcome to get the app either from the Play Store or download the latest version .APK from here.
