Doom 3 Ported to Android, Runs on HTC Desire HD Apparently (Video)

  • Of all the games I could have imagined seeing ported on Android, Doom 3 was a less likely choice, since it has pretty decent graphics, even by today’s standards, so it’s hard to emulate. This 2004 title is in pre alpha porting stage, as you can see in the video below, where it gets a few errors and screen glitches, but it actually takes you to the starting sequence.

    The title takes 2 minutes to load and it seems you can punch your way around for a bit. Let’s see how they get Android devices to render the enemies that were so greatly designed back then. The real achievement here, for now is getting the touchscreen to work as control system. Doom I and II are already available on Android, so why not complete the saga and have all of them ported to the most popular smartphone platform out there?

    Since we’re talking about a 2004 game, they could as well port the same year’s Silent Hill 4 on Android, the best horror game ever if you ask me. There’s a lot to be done, now that portable devices have evolved, so maybe we’ll see more ports.
