Disney Will Focus on Star Wars Mobile and Social Games After Buying LucasArts/Lucasfilm

  • The news of the week is probably the fact that Disney purchases Lucasfilm and LucasArts and also that they will be releasing a new Star Wars movie in 2015. This probably means that the likes of Johnny Depp will star in the movie, but leaving that aside we’ve also found some interesting details about upcoming Star Wars games, focused on mobile and social this time.

    Disney wants to rely on the fresh industry of mobile games and Facebook games, launching Star Wars titles on these platforms. Seeing how games like The Dark Knight Rises or NFS Most Wanted look like on phones and tablets there’s nothing stopping Disney from producing a brand new Knights of the Old Republic for mobile, right? I just hope they won’t wait till 2015 and Star Wars VII to release a new game, related to the movie. There’s always the Clone Wars series to exploit…

    LucasArts was right in the middle of developing Star Wars 1313 when they got bought by Disney, but plans are kept intact, luckily. With mobile gaming becoming so big lately, I imagine that in a few years everyone will be playing Star Wars on mobile and tablets, instead of the PS3/PS4. And then there’s Angry Birds Star Wars…
