  • HTC’s newest device has become a star of the mobile industry since it was announced just a few weeks back. The Droid DNA is available from Verizon in the US with a price tag of $199 for a two year contract. The device has already gathered lots of potential costumers that wasn’t to own it and users that have already purchased it.

As is the case with most Verizon devices, the bootloader on the Droid DNA is locked and at least for the time being  HTC does not provide the tools to unlock it on HTCDev. However, it didn’t take to long for the dev comunity to find a weakness in the DNA’s security and managed to unlock the device with ease.

One good thing HTC did decide to do, is to release the source code for it that can now be downloaded from their official page. Interested developers can now download and analyse it to discover the potential of preparing custom ROM’s for it. As the device’s popularity grows, it will not take to long since we’ll see lots of new firmwares and flashable features available for it.
