  • Once we played with the Nexus 4 handset, we also had fun with the game Cracking Sands, available on the Play Store for $4.99. The title takes up 340 MB of storage and it’s a racing game with some shooting in the midst.

Cracking Sands involves a bunch of buggies racing around and shooting each other with special powers, such as freezing an opponent or just shooting bullets at him. The game was originally available on Windows Phone and then it came to Android. Each vehicle has upgrades available and you can also buy new vehicles and upgrade your character. The on screen controls feature a nitro button, a gun button and directional controls.

Of course you can also rely on the accelerometer and tilting of the phone to control the game. By the way, the graphics are very good, with brilliant lighting and nice looking explosions and effects, especially the electric effects. The level design is actually good, especially the night time urban settings. However, I found the game to be very frustrating and confusing at times and races are to easy to lose. We give this game an 8 out of 10, also because it had some bugs. You can get it from here.
