  • More and more developers are starting to realize the importance of a minimalistic design when it comes to the Android interfaces, and plan on offering a bunch of solutions for a cleaner, more attractive aspect of the homescreen. In this regard we’ve seen some very interesting solutions arriving on the Store and here is one more that seems very good.

One thing that most Android users decide to exploit to its full potential, given the fact that it is about the only mobile OS offering such functionality, is the ability to place different widgets on each homescreen. These can be very useful for getting the latest news, accessing different parts of the system or controlling the media playback. In case of the latter there is one more option that can become an asset.

Media Utilities from developer Chris Bates has arrived on the Play Store in Beta form. What this app offers is the ability to control about any media device through the interface of just one widget, when it would require you place a different one for each app. It also has the ability to display the album art and works with services like Pandora, Spotify, Songza and others. Last but not least, the widget comes in different styles and dimensions so you can place it anywhere you’d like. It is available for free on the Store.
