  • For those of you into ROM flashing, ROM managers are a big deal nowadays. This manager is a popular app for rooted users, that allows them to quickly backup and restore custom ROMs and recoveries. A developer involved with ClockWorkMod, named Koushik Dutta is working on a project called Carbon, that may interest you.

In spite of the name confusion, Carbon is not the same we already know, but instead it’s an app that will backup and restore applications and all their data on new devices. There are some apps out there that do the same thing, but Carbon will not only back up the apps on the SD card or the PC or on cloud services like Google Drive or Dropbox, but also allow you to sync apps between multiple devices.

This app is right now in beta form and it’s not available in the Play Store just yet. You can download it from here, from Koush’s post on Google+ for free. It’s in beta phase for now and it will expire after 1 week of use. It needs root permission to perform backups, but the final version will also work on unrooted devices.
