  • We had a nostalgic smile on our faces when we saw handsets especially created for older people and now they get their own Android launcher. It’s a logical step in the evolution of smartphones, that have to be accessible to all categories of users, from the younger to the oldest. Let’s see what this launcher brings. It’s called BIG Launcher.

BIG Launcher goes for $4.99 and it’s created by the BIG Launcher Team. It was updated just days ago and requires Android 2.1, taking up just 3.6MB of space. As you can see, it provides some big interface elements, easy to spot and press. Everything is intuitive and readability is the focus here. You control the UI with single touches, no swipes and no long presses. You can access all the basic functions of the phone via a simple interface, without getting lost among its elements.

Large texts and color icons will help the elderly user distinguish between major items. There’s also a big font SMS editor and you get big shortcuts for the most used applications. 3 different color schemes and 3 font sizes are available, that allow you to use the phone without glasses. You can get the app from here.
