  • After naming the best Android apps of 2012, Google now moves on to give praise to the best games of the year, as we expected. Some games on the list we’ve reviewed, others we’ve just played, but we’ve heard of all of them. It’s nice to see Strikefleet Omega on the list, especially since the space strategy 2D title didn’t seem to have any chance at such a nomination.

The Bard’s Tale is also here, courtesy of an original story and lots of humor, plus pretty decent graphics. Nun Attack is not my personal favourite, since it’s a bit too difficult to enjoy, but Google must have seen the hit attributes in it. Granny Smith is worth all the praise it can get, since its physics and originality are excellent. Shadowgun: Deadzone is one of the best FPS games of the year and I’m shocked not to see Nova 3 on the list, that is actually the best FPS of the year.

There’s also no trace of Modern Combat 4, but at least NFS Most Wanted here, totally the racer of the year. Subway Surfers is also a surprise here, a pleasant one, since we’ve had fun with this game and loved it. Maybe Asphalt 7 and Wild Blood would have deserved a spot here and The Dark Knight Rises as well, but Google wouldn’t want to turn this top into Gameloft’s playground, right? Also, where’s Angry Birds?!
