  • Archos was famously making a gaming tablet and now the project has been brought to light as the Archos GamePad. This is a gaming tablet with physical controls integrated into the device, as shown here. The design reminds me of a bigger PS Vita and Asphalt 7 seems to be a selling title for this model.

We’re dealing with a 7 inch slate, that has at its core a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and a Mali 400 MP quad core CPU. This is an officially Google licensed device, so you get full access to Google Play Store apps and media of all kinds, stuff like music, movies, magazines and books. Archos also mentions that the device is compatible with every advanced Android game. It’s got automatic game recognition and it’s able to map the virtual controls to the physical buttons of the tablet, so you can play anything on it.

Archos GamePad runs Android 4.0 ICS and supports over 1000 Android games, according to Archos CEO Henri Crohas. The product will be available close to the end of October with a price tag of less than 150 euros. It will also come to the USA at some point, but considering Archos is a French firm, Europe comes first this time.
