Android Key Lime Pie Name Confirmed by Google Employee
Before Android 4.2 was announced we supposed that it was going to be the Key Lime Pie release that everyone was waiting for. With version 4.2 actually being Jelly Bean, yet again, version 5.0 will probably be Key Lime Pie. And today we also get a confirmation that KLP is actually the official name of the future release, courtesy of Manu Cornet, a Google employee.
Manu Cornet drew a comic that he posted on his Google+ account and it shows the evolution of the Android green robot, shaped like the human evolution, from ape till today. Notice how the green robot stands “erectus”, starting from Ice Cream Sandwich, which is kind of true, since that’s when the real evolution started. The really interesting thing to notice in this comic is the pie that the robot is eating after Jelly Bean. It looks like a piece of pie with cream and… lime
This makes it Key Lime Pie, exactly as the previous rumors were saying. There’s currently no information about Android 5.0 or its functionality, so we have to wait till May to find out, at Google I/O 2013. Last I heard, the next Android was supposed to integrate some Chrome OS features and bring Android action to the notebooks. Can’t really guarantee this as a solid 100% theory, so take it with a grain of salt.
