  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was announced yesterday at Google I/O 2012 and today we see some of its elements compiled into a nifty installable app. The credit goes out to @kovdev, who included the new official Jelly Bean wallpapers into the app. The official files were extracted from an OTA update for the GSM Galaxy Nexus that was given to I/O participants.

@kovdev says that you’ll find the pack soon in Google Play Store as well and separately you can also download the Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean boot animation from here. For this one you’ll need a rooted device, but for the wallpapers you just need to go here, without any need for root. As far as the boot animation goes, on your rooted device you need to copy the .zip file to the device and then using a file manager to move it to /system/media/

You’ll have to backup or rename the current bootanimation so you won’t lose it. I guess that we should expect a custom ROM to be compiled out of the software update at I/O 2012 soon enough, so you’ll get your share of Jelly Bean before next month’s launch.
