  • Weeks ago we saw Android 4.2 or at least part of it leaking online, with a full list of features and even a placeholder screenshot for a Quick Settings option in the OS. At that time we found out that in Android 4.2 after pulling down the notification bar you can also pull down a second time for the Quick Settings bar. Now the Quick Settings features has arrived, but it can be activated in a different way.

If you watch the video below, you’ll see official Hugo Barra demoing the feature at about 2:49. You can either press the small toggle in the notification area to activate Quick Settings and enter it, or you can swipe on the screen with two fingers to enter Quick Settings. There’s a settings area for brightness, connectivity, calls, battery, airplane mode, Bluetooth and wireless display, plus a big Owner section.

This area is possibly dedicated to everything related to your account and you may even switch to other accounts from it, since Android 4.2 offers multi user support. I’m looking forward for Google to start rolling out the update ASAP. They already surprised us with the launch yesterday and hopefully they’ll surprise us with an OTA update by the end of the week.
