  • From developer Chris Lacy – the maker of the excellent client for Twitter called Tweet Lanes, the other very well designed option is called Action Launcher Pro, that has reached a new version with some very interesting features.

Action Launcher Pro has now reached version 1.5.1 that brings a new feature called Shutters. But about that a bit later. For now let’s concentrate on the interface that benefits from great stability features with the latest release. Action Launcher does not offer you typical app drawer but instead offers a scrollable list on the side for finding and launching apps. There is also a search bar on the top side, which now defaults to Google Now and also allows for searching contacts, songs and about anything on your device.

Action Launcher allows for placing shortcuts and widgets with a long tap on the homescreen. Besides that, one of the new concepts in for a folder cover, that can be any of your apps and opened with a simple swipe on it. On top of that, there is the Shutters feature, brought by the latest version. This lets you swipe on a shortcut placed on the homescreen which has a widget corresponding to it and have the widget pop-up. It is a great way to quickly scroll through SMS messages or Bookmarks without actually having a widget take a lot of homescreen space. Take a look at the developer’s video below for the new feature in Action Launcher Pro:
